River house academy

This year I started homeschooling and as my father is also working remotely we visit and explore many places like Himachal Pradesh, Vietnam, etc. This time we visited south Goa, Canacona and found this amazing school called River House Academy. This school is a different school, not like any other school in the world. They teach using fun interactive methods; Less theory more practical. My first day in school was on August 18th, 2018. Honestly, I was a bit nervous because there were no Indians at all. When I went to school I met Ellie the principal. She is from the UK but is settled in India and is the founder and head teacher of River House Academy and she was very kind, polite and she introduced me to my class teacher Divya. Actually, the school turned out to be pretty good from that day! Then the 1st week went off well being introduced to the other kids and the teachers Ellie, Sam, Greg, Philipp, and others. All the teacher are very creative, talented, kind and helpful.
The school is made up of multiple huts, surrounded by coconut trees and overlooks Talpona river.

 My class is on the first floor. I am in class 5 and my class's name is Butterfly. Here, Butterfly is one of the beach-names of south Goa and other classes are also titled with some beach names. I have English, Science, Maths, Our World and Our India as main subjects. Divya teaches us these subjects and makes us feel comfortable in a very easy way so that we don't get bored of studying. Sometimes in maths, we play mathematical games. In English, sometimes Divya gives us a topic to write stories. In science we do experiments.

In Our World, we do research on the countries we are learning. Here you can study at your own pace. there are no uniforms in this school. Here there are no exams because if there were an exam there would be a lot of competition. So no exams, no competitions, no burden! Here, even parents are very helpful as sometimes they also come and teach us in a very unique way.

In this school students are from different countries like Peru, Israel, Spain, England, etc so we can learn multiple languages and cultures. We have food in the school and they serve loads of healthy food. at the break we have fruit and at lunch, brown rice, vegetables, dal and so on. After the lunch break, we have non - academic activities like art, craft, dance, sports, baking, and games. In art, we painted one of our classes which is an art gallery. In craft, we made Diwali decorations and rangoli. we play bench ball or volleyball in sports and in free time we play football too. I have learned many techniques of football here from my friends. We bake cakes on Thursdays and on Fridays we eat what we bake. Also, every month there is a bake sale.

 Sometimes we make dens and hammocks on the school premises and have fun. Sometimes we watch movies when we are bored. I have celebrated many festivals here and On 14th, December, this school is celebrating 3 festivals together: Diwali, Christmas, and Hannukah. My class and I are doing a Bollywood dance so right now we are practicing. I have learned lots of good things and made lots of friends here and all thanks to Ellie for creating this wonderful school.
